Compass test > < Table of typical tyre circumferences
Wheel pulse test
Wheel pulse test
Speeds of left and right wheel are displayed during wheel pulse test. Detection of change in direction (forwards/backwards) is also checked.
Test requirements:
l  Driving straight ahead at a speed of > 20 km/h
l  Reverse for about 3 metres for reverse gear detection
–  Select menu item “WHEEL SENSOR” with Cursor keys.

–  Start engine and drive forwards in a straight line. Whilst doing so, compare displays for left (L) and right (R) wheel sensors.
  Note!
t  Difference between speed of left (L) and right (R) wheel in lower speed range must not exceed 5 km/h.
t  If difference exceeds 5 km/h, check output signals of ABS control unit → Running gear; Rep. Gr.45.
t  Wheel pulse test must be repeated → Chapter.
–  Bring vehicle to a halt.
–  If values are within permitted range, press ENTER key to confirm “YES” display.

–  Engage reverse gear.
–  Reverse for about 3 metres and stop the vehicle.
–  Use ENTER key to confirm “OK” display.
If test is OK, process continues with compass test → Chapter.
In the event of a reverse gear detection fault:

–  Use current flow diagram to check reversing light switch signal and repeat wheel pulse test → Chapter.
