  Note
t  The Bowden cable for temperature setting is only fitted on vehicles with no air conditioner. On vehicles with air conditioner, the temperature flap is moved by way of a control motor.
   
t  There is a different base plate -C- for vehicles with no air conditioner (with an actuator for the Bowden cable to the temperature flap -E-) and with manually controlled air conditioner (no Bowden cable actuator -E-) → Electronic parts catalogue.
Removing
  A80-0245
–  Move the rotary temperature setting control -A- to the „cold stop“ position.
–  Remove the heater controls (heater control unit -J65-) → Chapter.
–  Remove the dash panel and the dash panel cross member (central tube): → General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.70
  Note
So as not to damage the dash panel fascia, the dash panel is only to be placed on a clean workbench covered, for example, with clean cardboard.

–  Release the fastener -D- of the Bowden cable sheath -E- and take the Bowden cable sheath out of the mount of the base plate for the heater controls.
–  Release the ball at the Bowden cable -F- from the lever of the actuator -G-.

–  Unfasten the support bracket -A- of the Bowden cable sheath -E- and take the Bowden cable sheath out of the heater guide -C-.
–  Release the ball at the Bowden cable -B- from the lever of the temperature flap.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
–  Only fit Bowden cables which have not been kinked and which move freely in the sheath.
–  Do not kink the Bowden cable.
