Removing and installing wishbone with mounting bracket on vehicles with manual gearbox Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-

t  Locating pins -T10096-

Removing –  Remove wheel. –  Remove noise insulation (bottom) → Rep. gr.50. –  Detach coupling rod of front left vehicle level sender -G78- from wishbone (if fitted). –  Unscrew nuts -arrows-. –  Pull wheel bearing housing with swivel joint out of wishbone. –  Set mounting bracket position.

–  Screw in locating pins -T10096- in place of bolt -1- (left-side) and bolt -8- (right-side) and tighten locating pins to 20 Nm.   Caution The locating pins -T10096- must not be tightened to more than 20 Nm, otherwise the threads of the locating pins will be damaged. –  Now unscrew item -17- on left side of vehicle and item -10- on right side.

–  Remove bolts -1-. –  Remove wishbone.

Installing –  Insert wishbone with mounting bracket in subframe. –  Fit, but do not yet tighten items -10 and 17-.

–  Insert and tighten bolts -1-. –  Then fit a new bolt in place of locating pin -T10096- and tighten bolt.

–  Secure wishbone to swivel joint -arrows-.

–  Secure wishbone to suspension bracket -item 10, 17- with suspension in unladen position → Chapter. Remaining installation steps are carried out in reverse sequence.   Note Ensure sealing boot is not damaged or twisted. Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of subframe, diagonal strut, swivel joint, anti-roll bar, wishbone, suspension bracket and vehicle level senders“ Tightening torques → Chapter „Exploded view of wheel bearing housing and wheel bearing unit“ –  On vehicles with electronic damping control (Audi magnetic ride), re-adapt reference position → Vehicle diagnostic tester. –  Perform basic setting of headlights → Rep. gr.94. –  Check and adjust wheel alignment as required, see chart → Anchor.
