Front-wheel drive vehicles:

• ● Exhaust system must be aligned when cold.

• ‒ Slacken bolted joints on front clamp -26-3.
• ‒ → Push exhaust system forwards -arrow- until pre-tension on rear mounting of rear silencer a = 7 ... 9 mm.
• ‒ Tighten bolts on front clamp -Item 26-3 evenly to 40 Nm.

Tailpipe alignment

• ‒ → Align tailpipes such that gap -a- on left is equal to gap -a- on right.
• ‒ At the same time, gap -b- between bumper cutout and bottom edge of tailpipes must be established.
• ‒ Dimension b = 97 ... 103 mm

Four-wheel drive vehicles:

• ● Vehicles without clamp between front and rear silencers-

• ‒ Unfasten bolted joints of clamp -Item 26-9.
• ‒ → Push exhaust system forwards -arrow- until pre-tension on rear right retaining strap on rear silencer a = 9 ... 11 mm.
• ‒ Tighten bolted joints of clamp evenly to 40 Nm.

Tailpipe alignment

• ‒ → Align tailpipes such that gap -a- on left is equal to gap -a- on right.
• ‒ At the same time, gap -b- between bumper cutout and bottom edge of tailpipes must be established.
• ‒ Dimension b = 97 ... 103 mm

• ● Vehicles with clamp between front and rear silencers

Note:

On vehicles with a clamp between the front and rear silencers only, the front silencer must be additionally set up.

• ‒ Slacken off bolted joints of clamps -Item 26-10.
• ‒ → Push exhaust system forwards -arrow- until pre-tension on rear left retaining strap on front silencer a = 7 ... 9 mm.
• ‒ Tighten bolts on front clamp -Item 26-9 evenly to 40 Nm.

• ‒ → Push rear silencer forwards -arrow- until pre-tension on rear right retaining strap on rear silencer a = 7 ... 11 mm.
• ‒ Tighten bolts on rear clamp -Item 26-10 evenly to 40 Nm.

Tailpipe alignment

• ‒ → Align tailpipes such that gap -a- on left is equal to gap -a- on right.
• ‒ At the same time, gap -b- between bumper cutout and bottom edge of tailpipes must be established.
• ‒ Dimension b = 97 ... 103 mm
