Fault table
The following table (arranged by fault code number) lists all the faults which the engine control unit-J220 can recognise and which can be printed out on the V.A.G 1551 printer. If a fault occurs only occasionally or if the fault memory is not deleted after the repair has been carried out, the fault will appear on the display as a "sporadically occurring fault" (SP). If defective components are detected also check wiring to the components for short and open circuits using with the current flow diagram. Before rectifying faults or replacing components, check the ground connections of the Motronic control unit -J220, contacts D11 and D12, as well as E11 and E12 (specified values: 0...0.5 ω) and check the ground connections on the engine for corrosion and damage and test the fuel pump relay=>Page 24-31. |
