Note:

If, on switching on ignition, "signal for ignition off period" is not detected by operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87 (heating) transmitted by dash panel insert via convenience data bus, -E87 (heating) assumes a standing time of more than 4 hours and an engine temperature identical to ambient temperature. In heating mode, this may result in delayed start-up of fresh-air blower although engine is warm. Incorrect values may also be displayed by ambient temperature indicator -G106 in dash panel insert.

  • ◆ This fault is entered if control unit in dash panel insert has been encoded for a vehicle with auxiliary heater (adaption channel 18) and there is no genuine Audi auxiliary heater installed (dash panel insert informs -E87 (heating) that auxiliary heater has been fitted; -E87 (heating) thus expects information from -J364 and does not receive it).
  • ◆ Auxiliary heater control unit and operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87 (heating) cannot communicate if they do not have the same data level.
  • ◆ Only genuine Audi auxiliary/additional heaters can be actuated by way of convenience data bus and exchange data with other control units linked to this bus system..
  • ◆ The majority of commercially available auxiliary heaters cannot exchange data via the data bus system and are not to be connected to it.

  • ◆ This fault is entered if, in a right-hand drive vehicle, convenience system central control unit -J393 has been encoded for a left-hand drive vehicle (control unit -J393 informs -E87 (heating) that vehicle is LHD and -E87 (heating) thus expects a control motor -V71 with potentiometer -G113 to be connected).
