Checking gap between pulley and clutch plate
Checking gap between pulley and clutch plate
  Note
t  The gap must be within the permissible range around the entire periphery.
t  The gap can also be measured with the air conditioner compressor fitted.
t  If the gap dimension is outside the permissible range, detach the clutch plate and set the gap to the correct dimension by removing or inserting spacers.
–  Switch off the ignition.
–  Preparation as for pulley replacement → Chapter

l  Clutch plate -C- tightened to the correct torque (30 Nm) on the shaft of the air conditioner compressor -E-.
–  Use a depth gauge -F- to measure (note down the measured values) the dimension „1“ between the pulley -B- and the clutch plate -C- at 3 points on the periphery of the clutch plate -C-.
–  Apply a voltage of 12 V to the 1-pin connector -A-.
–  Apply earth to the compressor housing -D-.
–  Use a depth gauge -F- to measure (note down the measured values) the dimension „2“ between the pulley -B- and the clutch plate -C- at 3 points on the periphery of the clutch plate -C-.
–  Calculate the gap from the measured values (dimensions „1“ and „2“).
Gap specification: 0.6 mm (up to 0.8 mm with a used magnetic clutch).
