Removing
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  A10-10890
–  Remove air cleaner housing → Rep. gr.23.
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Remove pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler -V400- → Chapter.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- and detach poly V-belt pulley for coolant pump (counterhold with pin wrench -3212-).

–  Take electrical connector -arrow- for oil pressure switch for reduced oil pressure -F378- out of bracket.

Vehicles with SCR catalytic converter:
–  Remove bolt -1- and detach thermostat for exhaust gas recirculation with connection from connection.
  Note
Disregard -items 2, 3-.

All vehicles (continued):
–  Detach coolant hose -arrow- (lift retaining clip).
–  Remove nut -2-.
–  Move electrical wiring on front coolant pipe clear.
–  Pull front coolant pipe forwards out of cylinder block.
  Note
Disregard -item 1-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pipes - exploded view“
  Note
t  Fit new O-rings.
t  Hose connections and air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before assembly.
t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Electronic parts catalogue.
t  To ensure that the air hoses can be properly secured at their connections, spray rust remover onto the worm thread of used hose clips before installing.
t  Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing.
–  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring.
–  Lubricate O-ring with coolant and slide onto coolant pipe.
–  Connect coolant hose with plug-in connector to coolant pipe → Fig..
–  Install poly V-belt pulley for coolant pump → Chapter.
–  Install pump for exhaust gas recirculation cooler -V400- → Chapter.
–  Install poly V-belt → Chapter.
–  Install air cleaner housing and exhaust gas pressure sensor 1 -G450- → Rep. gr.23.
–  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
