Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Hose clip pliers -VAS 6362-
  W00-10427
Removing
–  Drain coolant → Chapter.
–  Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  A10-10890
–  Unplug electrical connector -1- for exhaust gas temperature sender 3 -G495- and move wiring clear.
–  Remove bolts -2- and -3-.
–  Detach heat shield for turbocharger.

–  Remove cover -1- for drive shaft in wheel housing (left-side).

–  If fitted, remove bolts -arrows- and detach heat shield -1- (left-side).

–  Detach drive shaft (left-side) from flange shaft of gearbox → Rep. gr.40.

–  Remove bolts -1- and -2-.
–  Move electrical wiring harness clear at coolant pipe (rear left).
–  Open hose clips -arrows- and detach coolant pipe (rear left) from coolant hoses.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
l  Tightening torque → Chapter „Coolant pipes - exploded view“
–  Secure drive shaft (left-side) to flange shaft of gearbox → Rep. gr.40.
–  Install cover for drive shaft → Rep. gr.66.
–  Install heat shield for turbocharger → Chapter.
–  Fill up with coolant → Anchor.
