Convertible Top Hydraulic Cylinder: Service and Repair
Upper Hydraulic Cylinders, Removing and Installing
Upper hydraulic cylinders, removing and installing

Open convertible top and pull up rear part of frame and front roof frame.

Remove retaining clips -4- from balljoints at both ends of hydraulic cylinder -3-.

Remove tie wraps -1- and guide cylinder out through convertible top linkage.
Note: A tie wrap is installed between the upper tie wrap and the two lower tie wraps. When installing, the hydraulic hoses must also be secured with
this tie wrap.

Close convertible top storage compartment lid and cover with paper or equivalent.

Place hydraulic cylinder on storage compartment lid.

Unscrew union nuts from hydraulic connections.

Mark supply and return connections on cylinder and hydraulic hoses
CAUTION! Hydraulic fluid will damage paint; any spilled fluid must be removed immediately.

Connect new cylinder to hydraulic hoses.
‹› Union nut tightening torque: 28 Nm (21 ft lb).

Position hydraulic hoses as shown and secure with tie wraps -1-.
CAUTION! Do not interchange supply and return hydraulic hoses.

Bring new cylinder into position on convertible top as shown and press ball sockets onto ball joints on linkage -2-.

Install retaining clips -4- on ball joints and secure.
