Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  1. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
    1. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner clockwise.
    1. Remove the accessory drive belt.
  1. Raise the vehicle For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the generator coupling bolts.

  1. Remove the generator coupling.
  1. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. For additional information, refer to Section  303-03 Engine Cooling.

  1. Support the left-hand side of the radiator.
    • Install a tie strap.

  1. Support the right-hand side of the radiator.
    • Install a tie strap.

  1. Remove the radiator support bracket right-hand bolts.

  1. Remove the radiator support bracket.

  1. Remove the generator.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. It may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its adaptive strategy.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the generator tightening sequence is followed correctly.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
