Removal and Installation

Hog ring pliers
WARNING:
WARNING:Make a note of the position of the wiring harnesses to aid installation. An incorrectly routed wiring harness may lead to the wiring harness becoming damaged on the seat mechanism. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.

1. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

2. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

Item 2 : Front seat track inner trim panel

  1. Remove the front seat track inner trim panel.
    • Release the front seat track inner trim panel retaining clips in the sequence shown.

Item 3 : Front seat height adjustment lever trim cover (if equipped)

  1. Remove the front seat height adjustment lever trim cover.
    1. Raise the front seat height adjustment lever.
    1. Depress the front seat height adjustment lever trim cover locking tang.
    1. Slide the front seat height adjustment lever trim cover forwards.

Item 4 : Front seat backrest handle (if equipped)

CAUTION:
CAUTION:To avoid damage to the front seat backrest handle, even pressure must be applied to the opposite sides of the front seat backrest handle.

Item 5 : Front seat track outer trim panel

  1. Disconnect the front seat position adjustment switch electrical connector(s) (if equipped).

  1. Disconnect the adjustable clutch pedal and adjustable brake pedal switch electrical connector (if equipped).

  1. Remove the front seat track outer trim panel.
    • Release the front seat track outer trim panel retaining clips in the sequence shown.

Item 7 : Front seat head restraint guide tubes

  1. Remove the front seat head restraint guide tubes.
    1. Using a screwdriver, depress the front seat head restraint guide tube locking tang.
    1. Slide the front seat head restraint guide tube upwards.

Item 8 : Front seat backrest cover

  1. Detach the front seat backrest cover from the underside of the front seat backrest.
    • Detach the front seat backrest cover lower retaining strip.
  1. Roll the front seat backrest cover up the front seat backrest to gain access to the lower ends of the front seat backrest cover tensioner rods.

  1. Detach the lower ends of the front seat backrest cover tensioner rods from the front seat backrest frame.
    • Detach the front seat backrest cover tensioner rod securing cords from the front seat backrest frame.

  1. Detach the front seat backrest cover tensioner rod securing cords from the front seat backrest pad.
  1. Roll the front seat backrest cover up the front seat backrest to gain access to the side air bag deployment sleeve.

  1. Detach the side air bag deployment sleeve from the front seat backrest frame.

  1. Detach the upper ends of the front seat backrest cover tensioner rods from the front seat backrest frame.
  1. Roll the front seat backrest cover up the front seat backrest to gain access to the upper end of the front seat backrest spring frame.

  1. Detach the front seat backrest cover and the front seat backrest heater mat (if equipped) from the front of the front seat backrest pad.
    • Cut the hog rings.
      • 1. Discard the hog rings.

  1. Remove the front seat backrest cover.
    • Detach the front seat backrest cover upper retaining strip.
  1. Remove the front seat backrest cover tensioner rods from the front seat backrest cover if a new front seat backrest cover is to be installed.

Installation Details

Item 8 : Front seat backrest cover

WARNING:
WARNING:Make sure that the front seat backrest heater mat (if equipped) is correctly installed with the front seat backrest cover hog rings. An incorrectly installed front seat backrest heater mat may lead to folding in the front seat backrest heater mat and overheating during operation. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
NOTE:
NOTE:If installing a new front seat backrest cover, cut a hole for the front seat backrest lumbar adjustment lever (if equipped). Use the existing front seat backrest cover as a template.
NOTE:
NOTE:Use hog ring pliers to close the front seat backrest cover hog rings. Do not use any other tool. The front seat backrest cover hog rings must be closed to overlap as illustrated.
NOTE:
NOTE:Install new front seat backrest cover hog rings.

  1. Using hog ring pliers, install the front seat backrest cover hog rings.
