Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the brake master cylinder. For additional information, refer to Section  206-06 Hydraulic Brake Actuation.
  1. Remove the intake manifold. For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine / 303-01C Engine / 303-01D Engine.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the brake line to prevent fluid loss and dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the right-hand side front brake pipe.

  1. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield.
Vehicles with stability assist

  1. Disconnect the brake booster electrical connector.
All vehicles

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster.

  1. Detach the brake booster actuating rod from the brake pedal.
    1. Remove the clip.
    1. Remove the rod.
Vehicles with manual transmission

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the clutch hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the supply hose from the clutch master cylinder.
    1. Remove the clip.
    1. Disconnect the supply hose.
All vehicles

  1. Remove the brake booster retaining nuts.

  1. Detach the brake pedal bracket from the bulkhead.

  1. Remove two of the coil-on-plugs.

  1. Remove the brake booster.
    1. Move the booster to the right.
    1. Move the booster from behind the suspension strut.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the brake booster gasket is correctly positioned on the brake booster before installation.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
