In-vehicle Repair Removal WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. | -
Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connector. | | -
Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connectors. | | -
Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold. | | -
Detach the power steering line retaining bracket from the cylinder block | | -
Remove the bulkhead cover. | | -
Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. | | -
Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body. | | -
Detach the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body and position it to one side. | | -
Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold. | | -
Disconnect the throttle body position (TP) sensor electrical connector. | | -
Remove the throttle body. | | -
Disconnect the electrical connectors and the power supply rail from the fuel injectors. | | -
Remove the idle air control (IAC) valve. | | -
Using a suitable wooden block and a trolley jack, support the engine and transaxle assembly at the oil pan flange. | | -
Remove the engine lifting eye. | | -
Remove the engine front mount bracket and disconnect the ground cable. - Disconnect the engine ground cable from the bolt.
- Remove the bolts.

Lower the engine approximately 50 mm. | | -
Remove the intake manifold (engine shown removed for clarity). - Discard the nuts and gasket.

NOTE:Install a new throttle body and intake manifold gaskets and intake manifold retaining nuts. To install, reverse the removal procedure. | | |
