Engine - 2.3L - Intake Manifold Galaxy 2000.75 (04/2000-02/2006)
In-vehicle Repair

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  1. Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section  303-03A Engine Cooling / 303-03B Engine Cooling.

  1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the intake manifold.

  1. Detach the power steering line retaining bracket from the cylinder block
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the bulkhead cover.
  1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body and position it to one side.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold.

  1. Disconnect the fuel supply and return line quick release couplings. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.

  1. Disconnect the throttle body position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the throttle body.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the power supply rail from the fuel injectors.

  1. Remove the idle air control (IAC) valve.
    • Discard the gasket.
  1. Using a suitable wooden block and a trolley jack, support the engine and transaxle assembly at the oil pan flange.

  1. Remove the engine lifting eye.

  1. Remove the engine front mount bracket and disconnect the ground cable.
    1. Disconnect the engine ground cable from the bolt.
    1. Remove the bolts.
  1. Lower the engine approximately 50 mm.

  1. Remove the intake manifold (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Discard the nuts and gasket.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new throttle body and intake manifold gaskets and intake manifold retaining nuts.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section  303-03A Engine Cooling / 303-03B Engine Cooling.
