Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the engine upper cover.
  1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section  303-03A Engine Cooling / 303-03B Engine Cooling.

  1. Disconnect the engine coolant level indicator electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connectors and detach the wiring harness from the battery tray.

  1. Remove the battery side cover.
Vehicles with 1.9L diesel engine
  1. Detach the fuel filter from the battery tray.
All vehicles
  1. Detach the engine wiring harness rail from the battery tray.

  1. Remove the battery tray.

  1. Detach the coolant hoses from the transaxle fluid cooler.

  1. Remove the transaxle fluid cooler from the transaxle case.

Installation

All vehicles
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new transaxle fluid cooler O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Check the installation position.
    Install the transaxle fluid cooler.

  1. Attach the coolant hoses to the transaxle fluid cooler.

  1. Install the battery tray.

  1. Attach the engine wiring harness rail to the battery tray.
Vehicles with 1.9L diesel engine
  1. Attach the fuel filter to the battery tray.
All vehicles
  1. Install the battery side cover.

  1. Connect the engine wiring harness connectors and attach the wiring harness to the battery tray.

  1. Connect the coolant level indicator electrical connector.
  1. Install the engine upper cover.
  1. Install the battery. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section  303-03A Engine Cooling / 303-03B Engine Cooling.
  1. Fill the transaxle with automatic transmission fluid.
    For additional information, refer to Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill in this section.
  1. Check the transmission fluid level.
    For additional information, refer to Fluid Level Check in this section.
