Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

  • Visible damaged or worn parts.
  • Loose or missing nuts or bolts.
  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the concern is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to WDS.

Detach the gearshift and selector cable from the gearshift lever.

Is the gearshift lever difficult to operate?
Yes
Disassemble the gearshift mechanism and check for worn or damaged components.
REFER to Gearshift Linkage in this section.
No
A2: CHECK THE GEARSHIFT AND SELECTOR CABLE

Attach the gearshift and selector cables to the gearshift lever.
2
Detach the gearshift and selector cables from the transaxle.

Is the gearshift lever difficult to operate?
Yes
Install new gearshift and selector cables.
No
