Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
  1. Remove the armrest.
    1. Remove the screw cover.
    1. Remove the screw.

  1. Remove the lumbar adjust handwheel.
    1. Remove the cover.
    1. Remove the handwheel.
    1. Remove the surround.

  1. Remove the folding tray.
    1. Remove the trim cover.
    1. Remove the lower retaining pin.
    1. Remove the upper retaining pins.
  1. Detach the retaining strip from the underside of the backrest.

  1. Detach the backrest cover front tensioning clips from both sides (right-hand side shown).
    • Roll the backrest cover upwards to access the clips.
  1. Remove the side air bag module. For additional information, refer to Section  501-20 Supplemental Restraint System.
  1. Remove the head restraint.

  1. Remove the head restraint guides.
    • Using a suitable screwdriver, depress the locking tang.

  1. Detach the lower spreader bar from the backrest (right-hand side shown).

  1. Detach the upper spreader bar from the backrest (right-hand side shown).
  1. Remove the backrest cover.
  1. Remove the backrest.

  1. Remove the anti-squeak mat.

  1. Detach the lumbar adjust cables from the backrest (if equipped).

  1. Remove the lumbar mat.
    1. Detach the springs.
    1. Detach the lumbar mat mountings from the backrest frame.

Assembly

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
