Removal
All Vehicles
| -
NOTE:Prevent the piston rod from moving using a hexagon key. Undo the right-hand suspension strut top nut by five turns. |

Undo the right-hand front wheel nuts. |
| -
Detach the right-hand front wheel. |
Vehicles with the diesel engine
| -
Detach engine undershield. |
All vehicles
| -
Remove the right-hand wheelhouse cover. |
| -
CAUTION:The inner tripode joint must not be bent at more than 18°; the outer tripode joint must not be bent at more than 45°. CAUTION:Do not damage the boot and the ABS sensor ring. Detach the lower suspension arm from the spindle carrier. |

CAUTION:The inner tripode joint must not be bent at more than 18°; the outer tripode joint must not be bent at more than 45°. Detach the right front drive halfshaft from the intermediate shaft and tie it up (shown removed). |

NOTE:Escaping oil. Close off the transmission with auxiliary plugs. Remove the intermediate shaft. |
Installation
All Vehicles
| -
General note. - Renew the self-locking nuts and snap-rings.

| -
CAUTION:Do not damage the intermediate shaft oil seal. Install the intermediate shaft. |

CAUTION:The snap-ring must engage. Place the front drive halfshaft on the intermediate shaft and push it fully home. |
| -
CAUTION:Do not damage the boots and the ABS sensor ring. Attach the right-hand suspension arm. |
| -
Install the right-hand wheelhouse cover. |
Vehicles with manual transmission
Diesel-engined vehicles
| -
Install the engine undershield. |
All vehicles
| -
Tighten the right-hand front wheel nuts. |
| -
Tighten the right-hand suspension strut nut. - Stop it from turning using an Allen key.
- Tighten by hand with a ring spanner.
- Use a torque wrench to tighten to torque.
