Diagnosis and Testing

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart

Mechanical Electrical
  • Damaged antenna
  • Damaged CD ROM
  • Wiring harness
  • Loose or corroded connector(s)
  • Global positioning system (GPS) antenna
  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.

System Entry Procedure

NOTE:
NOTE:It is necessary to carry out part of the system diagnosis outside (wheel sensor test and GPS check). The only time it is necessary to the switch the ignition on, is to carry out the wheel sensor test.
NOTE:
NOTE:Make sure the navigation CD-ROM is installed in the navigation module before carrying out the System Entry Procedure.

The system diagnoses, tests and calibrates all functions of the navigation system and consists of a series of screens on the audio control unit which must be followed.

  1. SWITCH the audio control unit OFF and PRESS the FM/AM, EJECT, ON and MN/RT buttons at the same time.

  1. Use UP and DOWN keys, to select the language required and press the enter key (center button).
  1. SELECT DEALER CHECK and PRESS the enter key. Follow the on-screen diagnostic. If error codes are retrieved, for additional information refer to the error code index.

Calibration

When a new navigation module has been fitted it will be necessary to carry out a calibration of the module, and other components. It will be necessary to complete the DEALER CHECK as detailed in this section and the tire size selection in the RNS2 SETUP and carry out a short test drive.

If the tires fitted to the vehicle are not in the TIRE SIZE screen, it will be necessary to input them using the main menu option of SYSTEM SETUP.

  1. Select NEW TIRES or USED TIRES according to the tires fitted to the vehicle. Use the side to side keys to select each number of the tire size required and press enter after each selection.

If a new antenna is fitted, check for GPS reception in the DEALER CHECK and carry out a short test drive.
