Place gearshift in P (Park) - vehicles with automatic transmission or the neutral position - vehicles with manual transmission. | | | -
Turn the ignition switch to the 0 position. | | | -
Close all the vehicle doors. | | | -
Unbuckle the drivers safety belt. | | | -
Place the parking lamps/headlamps switch in the OFF position (If vehicle is equipped with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure). | Vehicles built up to 03/2002 | | -
Remove fuse F84 (20A) in the central junction box (CJB). | All vehicles | | -
Turn the ignition switch to position II. (Do not start the engine). | | | -
NOTE:The air bag warning indicator will turn off after 5 seconds. Wait until the safety belt warning indicator and air bag warning indicator turns off. (this will take up to a maximum of two minutes). | | | -
NOTE:Steps 10 through 12 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure must be repeated. Each operation should be approximately at 1 second intervals. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. | | | -
Turn the headlamps ON then OFF. | | | -
Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times ending with the safety belt unbuckled. After this step the safety belt warning indicator will flash for three seconds. This will enable the belt minder if disabled or disable belt minder if enabled. | | | -
After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete. | Vehicles built up to 03/2002 | | -
Install fuse F84 (20A) to the CJB. | |
