Remove the rear seat backrest. For additional information, refer to: Rear Seat Backrest - Vehicles Built Up To: 03/2002 (501-10 Seating, Removal and Installation). | | | -
Remove the head restraint and rear seat backrest latch trim. | | | -
Remove the rear seat backrest latch. - Locally detach the rear seat backrest cover from the rear seat backrest.
- Detach the upper outer corner of the rear seat backrest cover to gain access to the rear seat backrest latch.
- Torque: 24 Nm.
| Vehicles built 03/2002 onwards | | -
Detach the backrest heater mat wiring harness (if equipped) and the center safety belt anchor from the vehicle floor. - Fold the rear seat cushion forwards.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the clip.
- Torque: 55 Nm.

Remove the side bolster on both sides. | | | -
Remove the right-hand backrest. - Fold the backrest forwards.
- Release the backrest outer hinge locking plate.
- Release the backrest outer hinge retaining clips.
- Detach the right-hand backrest from the left-hand backrest.

Remove the right-hand backrest. - Fold the backrest forwards.
- Release the backrest outer hinge locking plate.
- Release the backrest outer hinge retaining clips.
- Detach the left-hand backrest from the inner hinge.

Remove the head restraint and rear seat backrest latch trim. | | | -
Remove the rear seat backrest latch. - Locally detach the rear seat backrest cover from the rear seat backrest.
- Detach the upper outer corner of the rear seat backrest cover to gain access to the rear seat backrest latch.
- Torque: 24 Nm.
