In-vehicle Repair

Removal

  1. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Remove the intake hose.

  1. Remove the cover plate from the cylinder head cover.

  1. Pull off the positive crankcase ventilation hose.
    1. Open the wiring harness cover.
    1. Disconnect the hose.

  1. Disconnect the plug and detach the dipstick tube.
    1. Idle air control valve (IAC valve)
    1. Intake air temperature sensor (IAT sensor)

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hoses and the plug.
    1. Detach the brake servo vacuum hose.
    1. Detach the EVAP solenoid valve vacuum hose.
    1. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
    1. Detach the throttle position sensor (TP sensor) multiplug.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable.
    1. Pull off the clip.
    1. Twist the cable out of the bracket.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the drive belt cover.

  1. Slacken and remove the drive belt.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the generator.
    • Disconnect the plug and detach the wiring.

  1. Remove the generator (shown on an engine removed from the vehicle).

  1. Remove the intake manifold.

  1. Remove the intake manifold.
    • Pull off the positive crankcase ventilation hose.

  1. Remove the intake manifold.
    • Take out the intake manifold upwards.

Installation
  1. Install the intake manifold.

  1. Install the intake manifold.
    • Push on the positive crankcase ventilation hose.

  1. Install the intake manifold.

  1. Install the generator (shown on an engine removed from the vehicle).

  1. Connect the generator.
    • Attach the wiring and connect the plug.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Fit and tension the drive belt.

  1. Fit the drive belt cover.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Attach the throttle cable.
    1. Fit the clip.
    1. Twist the cable into the bracket.

  1. Connect the vacuum hoses and the plug.
    1. Push on the brake servo vacuum hose.
    1. Push on the EVAP solenoid valve vacuum hose.
    1. Push on the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
    1. Connect the TP sensor multiplug.

  1. Install the plug and the dipstick tube.
    1. Connect the IAC valve plug.
    1. Connect the IAT sensor plug.

  1. Push on the positive crankcase ventilation hose.
    1. Push on the hose.
    1. Close the wiring harness cover.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:First screw in the bolts loosely, then align the cover and finally tighten the bolts.
    Fit the cover plate onto the cylinder head cover.

  1. Fit the intake hose.
  1. Install the battery. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
