Power Steering - Power Steering Pump to Steering Gear Pressure Line—1.8L Duratorq-TDCi (Lynx) Diesel/1.8L Duratorq-TDDi (Lynx) Diesel Transit/Tourneo Connect 2002.5 (06/2002-)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) /
    Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering lines to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering lines from the steering gear.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering lines to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the steering gear valve body to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the power steering lines from the steering gear valve body.
    1. Remove the retaining bolt.
    1. Rotate the clamp plate.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the charge air cooler inlet pipe.
    1. Loosen the retaining clips.
    1. Remove the retaining nuts.

  1. Remove the charge air cooler outlet pipe.
    1. Loosen the retaining clips.
    1. Remove the retaining nuts.
  1. Remove the air cleaner.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line from the transaxle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line from the engine lifting eye.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Detach the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line from the valve cover.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not disconnect the power steering pump pressure adapter from the power steering pump.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering line to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the power steering pump pressure adapter to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the power steering line union from the power steering pump.
    1. Using a suitable wrench, hold the power steering pump pressure adapter.
    1. Disconnect the union.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the position of the power steering line to aid installation.
    Remove the power steering pump to steering gear pressure line.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Care must be taken to prevent dirt ingress.
    Install a new O-ring seal onto the power steering pump to steering gear line union.

  1. Install new O-ring seals onto the power steering lines.
  1. To install reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
