Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
All Vehicles
  1. Drain the brake fluid reservoir.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
Vehicles with Anti-Lock Control
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Cap the clutch master cylinder supply hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the supply hose from the clutch master cylinder.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Cap the clutch master cylinder to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder supply line from the clutch master cylinder.
    • Remove the clip.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder retaining nuts.

  1. Detach the clutch master cylinder actuating rod from the clutch pedal.
    • Remove the washer and the clip.

  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Detach the clutch master cylinder from the retaining bracket, turn the clutch master cylinder counterclockwise.
Vehicles without Anti-Lock Control
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the clutch master cylinder hose to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the supply hose from the clutch master cylinder.

  1. Disconnect the pipe from the clutch master cylinder.
    • Remove the clip.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Detach the clutch master cylinder from the bulkhead.
    • Rotate it clockwise through 90 degrees.

  1. Detach the clutch master cylinder actuating rod from the clutch pedal.
    • Remove the clip.
  1. Remove the clutch master cylinder.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Bleed the clutch system. For additional information, refer to Section  308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information.
