Diagnosis and Testing

Refer to Wiring Diagrams Section 417-04, for schematic and connector information.

Special Tool(s)

Terminal probe kit

Principles of Operations

The daytime running lamps (DRL) are ON under the following conditions:

  • Ignition switch is in the RUN position
  • Light switch is in the OFF position

The DRL system is designed to turn the low beam headlamps ON at reduced intensity. The driver can disable the DRL system by any one of the following actions:

  • Turning the ignition switch to any position except RUN
  • Turning the light switch to any position except OFF

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
