Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Improper handling of the front air bag sensors may lead to accidental deployment. Before beginning repairs, refer to Technician Safety
Information.
1. Disarm SRS as outlined under Technician Safety Information.

2. Remove grille to radiator cover by pulling up on and removing eight trim clips, Fig. 2.
3. Use cross-tip screwdriver to remove one crosshead grille mounting screw.
4. Depress five grille tension clips, then remove grille.
5. On lefthand sensor, proceed as follows:
a. Remove lefthand headlamp assembly.
b. Remove fuse box mounting nuts, then set fuse box aside.
c. Remove air cleaner assembly, fresh air duct and coolant reservoir.
d. Disconnect sensor connector.
e. Remove three sensor bolts, then sensor from vehicle.
6. On righthand sensor, proceed as follows:
a. Remove righthand headlamp assembly.
b. Remove windshield washer fluid reservoir.
c. Disconnect sensor connector.
d. Remove three sensor bolts, then sensor from vehicle.
7. Reverse procedure to install. Torque sensor mounting bolts to 8-12 ft. lbs.
