Rack and Pinion Inner Tie Rod Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the corresponding outer tie rod end from the tie rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement   (See: Tie Rod/Service and

Repair/Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement).

Note:  To remove and refit the right-hand tie rod the left-hand boot must also be detached from the steering gear. A flat surface is to be found on
the steering shaft side to hold against the steering rack (arrows).

2. Remove the corresponding boot. Refer to Rack and Pinion Boot Replacement   (See: Tie Rod/Tie Rod Boot/Service and Repair).
3. Remove the inner tie rod from the steering rack.

Counterhold with an open-ended wrench (2) on the toothed rack flat.
