ATF level, gearbox with filler tube: filling Check the tool and equipment equivalence table according to the applicability between Seat / VW / Audi / Skoda → Chapter. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Oil tester w/aut 099, 01m -VAG 1924-, see equivalent → Anchor   Note

The following process is only valid for gearboxes fitted with filler hose -arrow-.

If ATF does not continue to come out of the overflow tube -arrow 2- up to 45ºC from the ATF test bolt hole then ATF must be added:   Note At the very latest, when a temperature of 45ºC is reached (for hot countries 50ºC), the ATF level testing bolt must be resealed; if necessary stop the engine, wait for the gearbox to cool and repeat the test.

–  Remove the cap which secures the plug, prising with a screwdriver -arrow-.   Note The filling tube is located on the front part of the gearbox underneath the starter motor. –  Always replace the cap (the insert on this is damaged by removal). –  Remove the filler cap.

–  Secure the hook of the oil tester w/aut 099, 01m -VAG 1924- in the filler opening.   Note The operation of the gearbox will be affected whether there is insufficient or excessive ATF.

–  Add ATF with the oil tester w/aut 099, 01m -VAG 1924- until, at an ATF temperature of between 35ºC and 45ºC, ATF comes out through the overflow tube -arrow 2- by the test opening. –  Tighten the ATF level test bolt -arrow 1- with a new seal to a torque of 27 Nm. This is the final operation for testing the ATF level.   Note At the very latest, when a temperature of 45ºC is reached (for hot countries 50ºC), the ATF level testing bolt must be resealed; if necessary stop the engine, wait for the gearbox to cool and repeat the test.

–  Refit the filler cap. –  Fit a new cap -arrow- and insert it.   WARNING Always replace the cap. The cap secures the plug in place. –  End function “08 - Read measured value block” pressing briefly the key ←. –  Briefly press function “06-End output”.

–  Fit the centre noise insulation -fastening elements 1 ... 3-. –  Switch ignition off and separate the diagnosis connector.
