Desiccant bag: replace the condenser, brand Modine   Note t  The instructions must be followed t  The desiccant bag is located to the left of the condenser. t  The desiccant bag does not have to be replaced every time the refrigerant circuit is opened → Air conditioner system with refrigerant R134a; Rep. gr.00„Replace components“. t  Depending on the vehicle equipment, it may be necessary to remove the condenser from the lock carrier to remove and install the dryer cartridge. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Air conditioner service station -SAT 400D- t  T-50 Torx head socket spanner -SAT 1006/8 50- Detaching First carry out the following work: –  Switch off ignition and all electrical loads, and pull out ignition key. –  Move lock carrier to service position → Rep. gr.50. –  Unclip fan support. –  First evacuate refrigerant circuit using e.g. air conditioner service station -SAT 400D-. Then - and only then - open refrigerant circuit.   Note t  Releasing refrigerant into the environment is a punishable offence. t  All components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs to prevent moisture intrusion.   WARNING Danger of freezing injuries. If refrigerant circuit has not been evacuated, refrigerant will escape. Extract refrigerant before opening refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes after it has been evacuated, pressure may develop in coolant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again.

–  Unscrew the locking bolt -1- with the socket T70 -T10128- .   WARNING Extract refrigerant from refrigerant circuit before removing sealing cap -1-. If the circlip -arrow- and the sealing cap -1- are not removed within 10 minutes, pressure may develop in refrigerant circuit due to re-evaporation. Extract refrigerant again.

–  Push the cap -1- into the liquid container. –  Remove circlip -arrow- and pull sealing cap -1- out of condenser -2- using bolt M12.

–  Pull dryer bag out of condenser in -direction of arrow- using a commercially available pick-up tool.

–  Produce a solder wire (Ø 2 mm) with the following dimensions. a -  380 mm b -  Max. 7 mm c -  Max. 6 mm

To prevent damaging the condenser, it is important to hook the welding wire into the strainer as shown in the illustration. –  Carefully pull strainer -2- out of condenser with welding wire -1-. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; noting the following in the process: –  Insert new strainer into condenser.

–  Guide dryer bag into condenser. –  Check sealing surfaces of receiver at condenser -2- for contamination or damage via opening. –  Renew sealing cap -1- along with related seal. –  Lightly moisten sealing cap seal -1- with refrigerant oil before installation. Ensure that seal is properly seated on sealing cap -1-.

–  Insert circlip -arrow-. –  Screw in the cap -1-. –  Re-install remaining components removed before. –  Charge refrigerant system → Air conditioner with refrigerant R134a; Rep. gr.00.
