Filling
  Note!
t  Only use antifreeze additive G 12 according to specification TL VW 774 F which is distinguished by its purple colour.
t  On no account must G 12 be mixed with other anti-freeze additives.
t  If the fluid in expansion tank is brown, G 12 has been mixed with other anti-freeze additive. In this case the coolant must be changed.
t  G12 and anti-freeze additives marked “In accordance with TL VW 774 D” prevent frost and corrosion damage, scaling and also raise the boiling point of coolant. For this reason, the system must be filled all year round with anti-freeze and anti-corrosive additives.
t  Because of its high boiling point, coolant improves engine reliability under heavy work loads, particularly in countries with tropical climates.
t  Anti-freeze protection should be guaranteed to approx. -25 °C(in countries with artic weather up to approx. -35 °C).
t  The coolant concentration must not be reduced by adding water even in warmer seasons or in warmer countries. The anti-freeze additive/coolant ratio must be at least 40 %.
t  If greater anti-freeze protection is required for climatic reasons, the amount of G 12 can be increased, but only up to 60 % (anti-freeze protection up to about -40 °C). With a greater concentration engine cooling and anti-freeze properties are diminished.
t  Never reuse used coolant. the radiator, the heat exchanger, the cylinder head or the cylinder head gasket.

1)  The quantity of coolant can vary depending upon the vehicle specifications.

–  Fill with coolant up to max. mark on expansion tank.
–  Close expansion tank cap.
–  Start engine and run engine at approx. 2,000 rpm. for about 3 minutes.
–  Run engine until radiator fan cuts in.
–  Check coolant level and top up if necessary. When the engine is at normal operating temperature, the coolant level must be at the max. mark, and when the engine is cold, between the min. and max. marks.
