–  Plug the cylinders with clean cloths to avoid dirt and abrasive particles getting between the interior wall of the cylinder and the piston.
–  Make sure that no dirt or abrasive particles get into the coolant.
–  Clean the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and of the engine block carefully. Avoid long scratches (if sandpaper is used, it must be at least 100 grain).
–  Eliminate carefully the abrasive particles and remove the cloths.
–  Position the cylinder 1 piston at top dead centre and turn the crankshaft slightly back.
–  Fit the new cylinder head gasket such that marking can be read (spare part no.).
–  Fit the cylinder head with the centring pins of the engine block.
–  Fit news cylinder head bolts and tighten them by hand.

–  Tighten the cylinder head bolts with spanner M12 of the toothed spanner set -U-40020- in the order indicated, as follows:
–  Tighten all the bolts to a torque of 30 Nm.
–  Then, retighten all the bolts 1/4 of a turn (90°) with a rigid spanner.
–  Finally, retighten all the bolts 1/4 turn (90°).
–  Seat the support elements on the cylinder head and rest the respective rocker arms on the valve stem ends or on the support elements.
