  Note
t  Do not remove the new cylinder head gasket from its packing until immediately before its installation.
t  Handle new gasket extremely carefully. If damaged, leaks may result.
–  Place a clean cloth in cylinders so that no dirt or particles can get in between cylinder wall and piston.
–  Carefully clean cylinder head and cylinder block sealing surfaces. Ensure no long grooves or scratches are produced (if using sandpaper. it must be at least 100 grain).
–  Carefully remove any abrasive metal particles and then remove the cloths.
–  Position crankshaft at TDC cylinder. 1:
   
The notched tooth of the notched belt wheel should line up with the mark on the oil pump -arrow-.
  Note
Do not confuse the marks on the seal retainer/oil pump. The notched tooth should line up with the mark coded with 4V.
–  Turn crankshaft back slightly.
–  Fit the new cylinder head gasket so that the lettering (spares number) can be read.
–  Fit the cylinder head observing the centring pins of the cylinder block.
–  Insert new cylinder head bolts and tighten by hand.

–  Tighten cylinder head bolts using wrench M12 from kit -SAT 1006/2- following the sequence indicated:
t  Tighten all bolts to 30 Nm.
t  Then tighten all bolts 1/4 turn (90 °) further using a rigid wrench.
t  Finally re-tighten all bolts 1/4 turn (90 °) further using a rigid wrench.
–  Install support elements in cylinder head and fit respective roller rocker finger onto respective valve stem end and support elements.
Continue installation following reverse order for removing.
–  Fit camshaft housing → Chapter.
Attachment bolts tightening torque for the camshaft housing (Only engine code BXW):10 Nm
–  Fill cooling system → Chapter
