Exhaust manifold: Removing and installing

Removal: –  Unbolt heat shield for right-hand side driveshaft -arrows-.

–  Remove the support -A-.

–  Remove securing nuts -arrows- for exhaust manifold to front exhaust pipe. –  Separate the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold. –  Intake manifold: Removing → Chapter.

–  Take electrical connection -arrow- for lambda probe -G39- out (before catalytic converter) of the retainer and separate. –  Move lambda probe cable clear.   Note The Lambda probe -G39- does not have to be removed.

–  Unscrews the securing screws of the heat protection plate -arrows- and remove the heat protection plate.

–  Remove the nuts of the exhaust manifold -arrows- and remove the exhaust manifold. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse sequence; note the following: –  Always gaskets and self-locking nuts. –  Installing intake manifold → Chapter –  Exhaust pipe with catalytic converter: Installing → Chapter. –  Align exhaust system without tension → Chapter Tightening torques:
