Match balancing
Match balancing
  Note
If the radial or axial run-out of the wheel rim and the tyre are the same, this will accentuate the concentricity fault in the whole wheel.
l  Before commencing Match balancing of the wheels, the tyre should be driven until reaching a set temperature. This removes any flattening.
Match balancing process
–  Deflate the tyre.
–  Separate the tyre bead from the rim contour tabs
–  Grease the tyre bead completely with assembly paste → Parts catalogue.
–  Turn the tyre 180º (1/2) with respect to the wheel rim.
–  Inflate the tyre to approximately 4 bars.
–  Fasten the whole wheel on the balancer.
–  Check the radial and axial concentricity and run-out.
  Note
t  If the theoretical values for radial and axial run-out are not exceeded, the wheel can be balanced to 0 grams. See theoretical values → Anchor.
t  If the theoretical values for radial and/or axial run-out are exceeded, proceed as follows.
–  Deflate the tyre and separate the tyre bead from the rim contour tabs
–  Turn the tyre 90º (1/4) with respect to the wheel rim.
–  Inflate the tyre to 4 bars again and check the concentricity.
  Note
t  If the theoretical values for radial and axial run-out are not exceeded, the wheel can be balanced to 0 grams.
t  If the theoretical values for radial and /or axial run-out are still exceeded, proceed as follows.
–  Separate the tyre from the rim contour as described above.
–  Turn the tyre 180º (1//2) with respect to the rim
If the theoretical values for radial and/or axial run-out are still exceeded, the wheel rim should be checked for radial and axial run-out → Chapter.
If the values obtained for radial and axial run-out on the wheel rim are within the tolerance levels, there is excess radial or axial run-out on the tyre. In this case, the tyre should be replaced.
  Note
As assembly paste has been used between the tyres and the contour of the wheel rim during the assembly of the wheel, acceleration and sharp braking should be avoided for the first 100 to 200 km. Otherwise the tyre may spin on the wheel rim and all the above work will have been in vain.
