  Note
If it is only necessary to remove the toothed belt from a toothed belt gear or the toothed belt tensioning pulley, the engine support as well as the engine mount must not be removed.
–  Remove the V-ribbed belt and clamping fixture → Chapter.
–  Disconnect the plug at the coolant expansion reservoir and at the activated charcoal filter.
   
–  Unbolt coolant expansion reservoir and PAS reservoir -arrows-; hoses remain connected.

–  Pull out oil dipstick -1-.
–  Release the nut -2-.
–  Remove engine cover -3- in -direction of arrow-.
–  Remove top toothed belt guard.

–  Fit supporting device -MP9-200 (10-222A)-.
–  Slightly raise the engine using the spindle on the catching device -MP9-200 (10-222A)-.
  Note
Tie up the coolant expansion reservoir and the PAS reservoir at the supporting device.
–  Remove air guide on outside right.

–  Remove middle and right noise insulation -arrows-.

–  Rotate the crankshaft at the central bolt of the toothed belt sprocket in direction of rotation of engine and position on TDC marking for cylinder 1 -arrows-.

–  Check whether the marking on the flywheel and the TDC marking are aligned -arrow-.
I - Manual gearbox
II - Automatic gearbox (is not mounted)
  S13-0164
–  Unbolt the engine mounting from the engine support as well as from the body -arrows-.
–  Remove the vibration damper without altering the TDC position.
–  Remove bottom and middle timing belt guard.

–  Remove the engine support -arrows-. While doing so, slightly raise or lower the engine with supporting device -MP9-200 (10-222A)-.
–  Mark the direction of rotation of the toothed belt with chalk or a felt-tip pen.
–  Slacken timing belt tensioning pulley and take off timing belt.
–  Turn crankshaft slightly back.
