Check lambda probe heater > < Poor vehicle handling after cold start
Check for proper operation
Check for proper operation
–  Select function read measured value block (function 08) and display group 003 → Chapter.

Readout on display:
Only proceed with test once the coolant temperature in the display field 3 is at least 80°C.
–  Press button C.
–  Enter 07 for the “display group number 007” and confirm with key Q.

Readout on display:
The signal voltage of the lambda probe is displayed in the display field 2.
–  If the probe voltage fluctuates too slowly, test lambda probe heater → Chapter.
–  If a probe voltage of 0.45...0.50 V is shown constantly, interrupt signal line, test wiring → Chapter.
–  If a probe voltage of 0.0...+0.3 V (mixture too lean) is shown constantly, so the mixture control has reached the control stop in direction “enrich”; however the lambda probe still detects “mixture too lean”.
–  If a probe voltage of 0.7....1.0 V (mixture too lean) is shown constantly, so the mixture control has reached the control stop in direction “enrich”; however the lambda probe still detects “mixture too lean”.
–  Press key C.
–  If the lambda probe functions properly, check lambda learned values.
–  Enter 08 for the “display group number” and confirm with key Q.

Readout on display:
The mixture adaptation is adaptive, i.e. differences between the engines (nozzle flow rate, compression, fuel pressure) are detected via the lambda control and compensated through the adaptation of the basic injection time programmed in the characteristic diagram. The injection time is extended or shortened until a mixture with X = 1 is achieved. The variation of the actual injection time of the basic injection time progammed in the characteristic diagram is specified in %.
t  Positive learned value (+ ... %): programmed basic injection time too short, actual injection time by .... % longer, so that X = 1 is achieved.
t  Negative learned value (+ ... %): programmed basic injection time too long, actual injection time by .... % shorter, so that X = 1 is achieved.
Nominal values: → Chapter.
