Fan Motor, Remove and Install (without Air
Conditioning)
 Remove

Disconnect ground cable from battery.
X 16 SZR:
Remove pre-heating hose (1) from heat shield and resonator.
Disconnect vacuum hose (2) from vacuum unit (intake air
pre-heating).

Detach wiring harness plug for fan motor (3).
Detach fan housing (1) from radiator and remove upwards.
Remove fastening bolt (2) and remove wiring harness plug with
series resistor – lay cable bundle out of the way.

|
Remove fastening bolts (1) – remove fan motor from fan
housing.
Remove fastening bolts (2) – remove fan pulley from fan
motor.
Install
Attach fan wheel to fan motor. Attach fan motor to fan
housing.
Attach wiring harness plug with series resistor to fan housing
– clip wiring harness to fan housing.

Attach fan housing to radiator – tightening torque 5 Nm /
3.7 lbf. ft.
1) .
Connect wiring harness plug for fan motor.
For X 16 SZR engine: Attach preheater hose to heat shield and
resonator. Connect vacuum hose to vacuum unit (intake air
preheating).
Connect ground cable to battery.
1 ) Recut thread before re-use and install bolts
with screw locking compound – (red). Installation time
including the torque test is max. 10 min.
