Oil Pump, Remove and Install > < Lower Part of Oil Pan, Remove and Install

Upper Part of Oil Pan, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

Separate wiring harness plug for crankshaft pulse pickup (1) and unclip from bracket.

Disconnect wiring harness plug (2) from oil temperature sensor.

Remove oil dipstick guide tube bracket (3) from cylinder block.

Pull oil dipstick guide tube (4) out of upper part of oil pan.

Remove lower part of oil pan – see operation "Oil Pan, Lower Part, Remove and Install".

Detach turbocharger oil return line (1) from upper part of oil pan – note seal rings – place collecting basin underneath.

Close bores in oil pan.

Detach upper part of oil pan (3) from transmission, cylinder block and oil pump and set aside on front axle body.

Remove fastening bolts (2) for crankshaft bearing bridge and remove upper part of oil pan.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.

  Install

Apply a bead of adhesive sealing compound (black) to joints (arrows) of oil pump and rear crankshaft bearing cap.

Set aside upper part of oil pan with new gasket on front axle body.

Install fastening bolts for crankshaft bearing bridge – tightening torque – 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. + 45°.

Install upper part of oil pan with new gasket to transmission, cylinder block and oil pump.

Installation sequence:

1. Tighten all bolts loosely.
2. Tighten bolts on cylinder block and oil pump – tightening torque – 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.
3. Tighten bolts on transmission housing – tightening torque 40 Nm / 29.5 lbf. ft.

Attach turbocharger oil return line to upper part of oil pan with new seal rings – tightening torque – 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft.

Install lower part of oil pan – see operation "Lower Part of Oil Pan, Remove and Install".

Insert oil dipstick guide tube into upper part of oil pan with new seal rings.

Attach oil dipstick guide tube bracket to cylinder block – tightening torque – 25 Nm / 18.5 lbf. ft.

Clip wiring harness plug for crankshaft pulse pickup into bracket and connect.

Connect wiring harness plug to oil temperature sensor.

Install lower engine compartment cover – see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".
