Oil Pump, Remove and Install

  Remove

Remove oil pan – see operation "Oil Pan, Remove and Install".

Remove air cleaner housing – see illustration "Air Ducts X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL,Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG" or "Air Ducts X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL".

Remove upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".

Remove ribbed V-belts – see operation "Ribbed V-belts, Remove and Install". Remove ribbed V-belt tensioner – see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install". Remove lower part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Lower Part, Remove and Install".

Caution Prior to removing toothed belt – set crankshaft to approx. 60° (dimension I) before TDC mark.

  Remove

Remove toothed belt – see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and Install".

Remove toothed belt tension roller – see operation "Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install". Remove toothed belt guide roller – see operation "Toothed Belt Guide Roller, Remove and Install". Remove ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)" or "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)". Remove cylinder head cover – see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install". Remove camshaft sprockets – see operation "Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install". Rear toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Rear, Remove and Install". Remove oil intake tube (1) from oil pump and cylinder block.

Detach wiring harness plug (1) from oil pressure switch. For X 14 XE and X 16 XEL: Detach crankshaft pulse pick-up (2) from oil pump. For X 18 XE1: Detach crankshaft pulse pick-up (3) from bracket or oil pump. Detach oil pump (4) from cylinder block. Edge seal ring (5) out of oil pump.

  Clean

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.

  Install

Attach oil pump with new seal (1) to cylinder block – tightening torque 10 Nm / 7 lbf. ft. For X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL – ensure that lug on oil pump engages in the coolant pump groove. Push protective sleeve (2) of corresponding tool onto crankshaft journal. Lightly coat sealing lip of the new seal ring with silicon grease (white) and slide over the protective sleeve onto crankshaft journal.   Remove Remove protective sleeve from crankshaft journal.   Install Press seal ring with KM-417 or KM-6010 (4) into oil pump – for this use bolt (3) and washer (5) of toothed belt drive gear. Slide toothed belt drive gear onto crankshaft.

For X 14 XE and X 16 XEL: attach crankshaft pulse pickup bracket to oil pump / cylinder block – tightening torque 10 Nm / 7.5 lbf. ft.

For X 18 XE1: Attach crankshaft pulse pick-up to bracket or oil pump – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Connect wiring harness plug to oil pressure switch.

Attach oil intake pipe to oil pump with new seal ring – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. 1)

Attach oil intake manifold to cylinder block – tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Install rear toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Rear, Remove and Install".

Install camshaft sprockets – see operation "Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install".

Install cylinder head cover – see operation "Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install".

Install ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)" or "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL)".

Install toothed belt guide rollers – see operation "Toothed Belt Guide Rollers, Remove and Install".

Install toothed belt tension roller – see operation "Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".

Install toothed belt – see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and Install".

Install lower part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Lower Part, Remove and Install".

Install ribbed V-belt tensioner – see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".

Install ribbed V-belt – see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".

Install upper part of toothed belt cover – see operation "Toothed Belt Cover – Upper Part, Remove and Install".

Install air cleaner housing – see illustration "Air Ducts X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG" or "Air Ducts X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL".

Install oil pan – see operation "Oil Pan, Remove and Install".
