The throttle valve potentiometer (1, B45) registers the throttle valve angle in order to determine a secondary load signal. The secondary load signal is used as additional information for dynamic functions, for recognition of the idle speed, partial load and full load ranges and as an emergency operation signal when the main load sensor (hot film mass air flow meter) malfunctions. The throttle valve potentiometer is fastened to the throttle body and is seated on one shaft with the throttle valve. The potentiometer detects the angle of the throttle valve and transmits a voltage ratio to the engine control unit via a resistor circuit. |
