Steering Gear Hydraulic Lines, Remove and Install (Vehicles with LHD, EHPS Gen. I, Delphi)

  Remove

If present: Remove lower engine compartment cover – for vehicles with diesel engine: see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

Support transmission and remove engine damping block bracket from rear of transmission and front axle body.

Caution

Place collecting pan underneath and collect escaping hydraulic fluid.

  Remove

Detach hydraulic lines (1) and (2) from steering gear feed and steering gear housing.

Object Number: 2397973  Size: DEFAULT

Note:   New seal rings must always be used when installing hydraulic lines.

  Install

Attach hydraulic lines to steering gear feed and steering gear housing – tightening torque 27.5 Nm / 20.5 lbf. ft.

Attach rear engine damping block bracket to transmission – tightening torque 80 Nm / 59 lbf. ft. Attach rear engine damping block bracket to engine damping block – tightening torque 55 Nm / 40.5 lbf. ft.

If present: Install lower engine compartment cover – for vehicles with diesel engine: see operation "Lower Engine Compartment Cover, Remove and Install" in group "A".

Charge and bleed hydraulic system – see operation "Hydraulic System, Charge and Bleed (EHPS Gen. I)".
