Pressure Loss Test, Charge Air System > < Repair engine using a short block

Pressure Loss Test, Charge Air System

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect battery
•   Detach earth connection from earth terminal
Slacken nut
3.   Detach charge air hose (1), intercooler to throttle valve body, from throttle valve body
•   Release clamp

4.   Detach charge air hose, intercooler to turbocharger (1) from turbocharger
•   Release clamp
Object Number: 7360935  Size: DEFAULT


Warning:   Hose or EN-47656-1 must be free from oil and grease
5.   Attach EN-47656-1 (1) to charge air hose, intercooler to throttle valve body
•   Tighten clamp
Note:   Ensure clamp is seated correctly, if necessary use an additional clamp
Warning:   Hose or EN-47656-2 must be free from oil and grease
6.   Attach EN-47656-2 (2) to charge air hose, intercooler to throttle valve body
•   Tighten clamp
Note:   Ensure clamp is seated correctly, if necessary use an additional clamp

  Measure

Important:   Compressed air hose must be absolutely leak-proof
7.   Pressure Loss Test, Charge Air System
•   Unscrew protective cap for valve
•   Attach compressed air pressure gauge (1) to EN-47656-1
Note:   Connection valve may not be kinked
•   Apply 1.5 bar pressure to charge air system
Note:   Pressure must be held for at least 5 minutes

8.   Detach pressure gauge with EN-47656-1
•   Attach protective cap for valve

  Install

9.   Detach EN-47656-1 from charge air hose, intercooler to throttle valve body
•   Release clamp
10.   Detach EN-47656-2 from charge air hose, intercooler to turbocharger
•   Release clamp
11.   Attach charge air hose, intercooler to turbocharger to turbocharger
Note:   Charge air hose and connection piece must be free from oil and grease
•   Tighten clamp 3.5 Nm
12.   Attach charge air hose, intercooler to throttle valve body to throttle valve body
Note:   Charge air hose and connection piece must be free from oil and grease
•   Tighten clamp 3.5 Nm
13.   Connect battery
•   Attach ground connection to ground terminal
•   Tighten nut
14.   Program volatile memories
15.   Close bonnet
