Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (1.7L Diesel LPL, LPV,
LUD, LUE, LKR)
Removal Procedure
|
Warning:
With a pressurized cooling system, the coolant
temperature in the radiator can be considerably higher than the
boiling point of the solution at atmospheric pressure. Removal of
the surge tank cap, while the cooling system is hot and under high
pressure, causes the solution to boil instantaneously with
explosive force. This will cause the solution to spew out over the
engine, the fenders, and the person removing the cap. Serious
bodily injury may result. |
|
Caution: Use care when performing this procedure. Use of excessive
force may damage the coolant thermostat. |
|
Note: Place a drain
tray underneath.
|
3. |
Remove the engine coolant
thermostat (2) from the engine coolant thermostat housing
(1). |
4. |
Clean the sealing surface from
old gasket material. |
Installation Procedure
1. |
Install a New engine coolant
thermostat (2) to the engine coolant thermostat housing (1).
