Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Replacement (1.3L Diesel LSF)

Removal Procedure

Warning:  Refer to Exhaust Service Warning .

Warning:  Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning .

1. Open the hood.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
3. Remove the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve splash shield. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve Splash Shield Replacement .

4. Remove the exhaust temperature sensor (1).

5. Remove the 5 catalytic converter heat shield nuts (1) from the catalytic converter (2).
6. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield (2).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the catalytic converter heat shield (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .
2. Install the 5 catalytic converter heat shield nuts (1) to the catalytic converter (2) and tighten to 9 N·m (80 lb in) .

3. Install the exhaust temperature sensor (1).
4. Install the turbocharger wastegate actuator vacuum control solenoid valve splash shield. Refer to Turbocharger Wastegate Actuator Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve Splash Shield Replacement .
5. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
6. Close the hood.
