Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection
Lower Oil Pan

Clean the oil pan mating
surface (1). |
| 2. |
Clean the lower oil pan.
Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits. |
| 3. |
Remove the oil pan drain plug
(3) and the oil pan drain plug seal. |
| 4. |
Inspect the thread of the oil
pan drain plug and of the oil pan thread (2). |
| 5. |
Inspect the oil pan holes (4)
for cracking. |
| 6. |
Repair or replace the lower
oil pan as necessary. |
Upper Oil Pan
| 2. |
Clean the oil pan mating
surface (1). |
| 3. |
Clean the upper oil pan.
Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits. |
| 4. |
Inspect the oil pan for
cracking near the vents (2). |
| 5. |
Inspect the oil pan holes (3)
for cracking. |
| 6. |
Inspect the oil pan for
cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points
(4). |
