Exhaust Camshaft Replacement

Special Tools

EN-46789   Camshaft Locking Tool

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools .

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
3. Install the EN-46789   locking tool .

4. Remove and DISCARD the exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2).
5. Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket (1).
6. Remove the EN-46789   locking tool .

7. Remove the exhaust camshaft seal ring (1).
8. Remove the exhaust camshaft (2).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the exhaust camshaft (2).
2. Install a NEW exhaust camshaft seal ring (1).
3. Install the EN-46789   locking tool .

4. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution .
5. Install the NEW exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt (2) and tighten in two passes:
  5.1 First pass to 30 N·m (22 lb ft) .
  5.2 Second pass to an additional 52° .
6. Remove the EN-46789   locking tool .
7. Install the camshaft housing. Refer to Camshaft Housing Replacement .
8. Close the hood.
