Heater Mat for Front Seat Backrest, Remove

Pull out upholstery of front seat backrest from retaining rail (lower).

See corresponding operation in group "C".

Push back upholstery until heater mat is free, if necessary remove ring clamps from backrest.

Disconnect cable plug of heater mat.

Pull off heater mat from front seat backrest.

Heater Mat for Front Seat Backrest, Install

Position heater mat on seat backrest and mark installation position.

Position heater mat so that end of mat is approx. 50 mm/1.97 in. from rear edge of backrest.

Apply plastic adhesive, Catalogue No. 15 04 851 - 9 293 725, to underside of heater mat in hatched area and to seat upholstery.

After allowing adequate time to dry, press heater mat on to seat cushion with cemented side facing downwards.

Pull over upholstery and fasten.

Connect cable plug at side and push under upholstery.

Ensure that cable is laid carefully (see illus. C 1819).

Install front seat and connect plug connection under seat.

When the seat heating system and the thermostat switch are switched on, the checking connection is under voltage.

When the thermostat switch switches off after reaching the maximum switching temperature (between 36 °C/97 °F and 42 °C/108 °F), the voltage at the checking connection is also switched off.

Note:

As of MY '90, the checking connection is no longer present.
