                 X 89 Ter. 9/X 88 Ter. 3

ETC = Electronic Traction Control

Cause of Fault:

Only applies to KADETT-E/ASTRA-E/BELMONT with ABS-2E:

 

 

 

·   Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

 

Left and right brake lamps illuminate

 

·   If nominal value is attained, continue at next trouble-shooting section

·   Fuse F 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between fuse F 8 and brake lamp switch S 8

·   Brake lamp switch S 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between brake lamp switch S 8 and plug connection X 6/Ter. 11

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 11 and brake lamps

·   Ignition OFF

     Remove plug from control unit K 50

     Connect voltmeter between K 50/Ter. 25 and K 50/Ter. 10

     Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

 

 

 

12 V

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 11 and control unit K 50/Ter. 25

·   Control unit K 50 defective

Only applies to CALIBRA with ABS-2E:

 

 

 

·   Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

Left and right brake lamps illuminate

·   If nominal value is attained, continue at next trouble-shooting section

·   Fuse F 7 defective

·   Lead interruption between fuse F 7 and brake lamp switch S 8

·   Brake lamp switch S 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between brake lamp switch S 8 and plug connection X 6/Ter. 11

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 11 and brake lamps

·   Ignition OFF

     Remove plug from control unit K 50

     Connect voltmeter between K 50/Ter. 25 and K 50/Ter. 10

     Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

 

 

 

12 V

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 11 and control unit K 50/Ter. 25

·   Control unit K 50 defective

Only applies to ASTRA-F with ABS-2EH:

 

 

 

·   Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

Left and right brake lamps illuminate

·   If nominal value is attained, continue at next trouble-shooting section

·   Fuse F 28 defective

·   Lead interruption between fuse F 28 and brake lamp switch S 8

·   Brake lamp switch S 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between brake lamp switch S 8 and plug connection X 6/Ter. 15

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 15 and brake lamps

·   Ignition OFF

     Remove plug from control unit U 4.8

     Connect voltmeter between

     with ETC             :X 90/Ter. 23

     without ETC        :X 89/Ter. 9

     and ground

     Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

 

 

 

12 V

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 6/Ter. 15 and control unit

     with ETC:                                  X 90/Ter. 23 without ETC:            X 89/Ter. 9

·   Control unit U 4.8 defective

Only applies to VECTRA/CAVALIER and CALIBRA with ABS-2EH:

 

 

 

·   Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

Left and right brake lamps illuminate

·   If nominal value is attained, continue at next trouble-shooting section

·   Fuse F 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between fuse F 8 and brake lamp switch S 8

·   Brake lamp switch S 8 defective

·   Lead interruption between brake lamp switch S 8 and plug connection X 89/Ter. 9

·   Lead interruption between plug connection X 89/Ter. 91and brake lamps

·   Ignition OFF

     Remove plug from control unit U 4.8 Connect voltmeter between X 89/Ter. 9 and ground

     Ignition ON

     Actuate brake

 

 

 

12 V

·   Control unit 4.8 defective
