Note:

Control unit terminals for FL solenoid valve:

ABS-2E:                Ter. 2 and 20

ABS-2EH with ETC:           Intern.

ABS-2EH without ETC:      Intern.

ETC = Electronic Traction Control

For the ABS-2EH, the official Opel/Vauxhall circuit diagrams designate the control unit terminals for the solenoid valves as inaccessible. There is, however, a 6-pin oblong plug on the upper side of the hydraulic modulator (under the cover) which connects the solenoid valves and the control unit. (FL solenoid valve: Ter.1 and 2).

Notes for Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of Fault:

Only applies to ABS-2E check of solenoid valve U 4.5:

·   Ignition OFF

     Unbolt cover from hydraulic modulator

     U 4

Remove 12-pin plug from hydraulic modulator

Connect ohmmeter between hydraulic modulator Ter. 1 and Ter. 4 for solenoid valve U 4.5

0.7 to1.7 W

·   Solenoid valve U 4.5 (hydraulic modulator) defective

·   Remove valve relay U 4.2

Connect ohmmeter between Ter. 87A on hydraulic modulator and Ter. 1 on hydraulic modulator

> 1 M W

·   Solenoid valve U 4.5 (hydraulic modulator) defective

·   Ignition OFF

Remove plug from control unit K 50 Reconnect 12-pin plug of hydraulic modulator

Connect ohmmeter between K 50/Ter. 2 and Ter. 32 (valve relay removed)

0.7 to 1.7 W

·   Lead interuption

·   Connect ohmmeter between K 50/Ter. 2 and ground

> 1 M W

·   Short circuit to ground

Only applies to ABS-2EH, check of solenoid valve U 4.5:

·   Ignition OFF

     Unbolt cover from hydraulic modulator

     U 4

Remove 6-pin plug from hydraulic modulator

Connect ohmmeter between hydraulic modulator Ter. 1 and Ter. 2 for solenoid valve U 4
