SELECT ACTUATOR

Jack up vehicle so that the wheels can be turned freely;

FL SOL. VALVE

Secure vehicle so that it cannot roll off.

FR SOL. VALVE

AT vehicles: selector lever in N; MT vehicles in neutral;

REAR SOL VALVE

Release parking brake;

On vehicles with four wheel drive (4x4), remove fuse "F19" (four wheel drive solenoid valve Y44)

Ignition ON

Check the following parameters for correct functioning in the TECH 1 FO:DATA LIST:

Front Wheel Speeds

FO:DATA LIST test step 01

Rear Wheel Speeds

FO:DATA LIST test step 02

Valve Relay

FO:DATA LIST test step 03

Brake Switch

FO:DATA LIST test step 04

Carry out Actuator Test for return pump relay and check for correct functioning (Table 5 No. 01).

Note:

The following Actuator Tests must be carried out by two mechanics; one mechanic actuates the TECH 1 and brake pedal and the second mechanic turns the relevant wheel as instructed.

Follow TECH 1 instructions precisely. incorrect responses/actions can lead to incorrect diagnosis.

In the following Actuator Tests for the various brake circuits, the ABS NORMAL function (normal brake system) of each circuit is checked, and also the PRESSURE MAINTENANCE and PRESSURE REDUCTION functions.

Important:

The check must not be aborted. TECH 1 must not be disconnected before the end of the test. In this event, correct functioning of the brake system cannot be guaranteed. After the end of the check, the ignition must be switched OFF and ON again.

Proceed with section no. 02, 03 or 04, depending on the brake circuit being checked.
